Jordi Paronella grew up in a wine-loving family in Barcelona. After attending Hospitality and Restaurant Management school he turned his attention to wine studies at Escuela de Enologia d’Espielles. His education led him to a storied career as a Sommelier at some of the top Michelin starred restaurants in and around Barcelona including Restaurant Abac, Restaurant Moo and the legendary Cal Xim. In 2013 he crossed the pond to begin his role as Lead Sommelier for all of José Andrés’ Spanish concepts, and 2020 became Jose Andres Wine Director. He loves the magnificent oenological offerings of his homeland but is also a great fan of all wines that speak to their sense of place and terroir. What little free time his work allows him he spends cooking and sipping on Sherry and bubbles with his wife, his lovely twins and his friends in his adopted home of Washington, DC.
