I am a freelance wine writer, educator and photographer living in Chicago. I have traveled to and written about wines from several countries, including France, New Zealand and Chile, with an emphasis on Italy. I have traveled to wine regions throughout Italy, having made 90 trips to that country from my home in Chicago. 
 I currently write about wine for three publications: wine-searcher.com, Food & Wine and Decanter. I am also a professional photographer, represented by my agent Mick Rock at Cephas Picture Library in England. My photos have appeared in such publications as Wine Spectator and Decanter, and in 2020, I was named Wine Photographer of the Year (category Places) at the World Food Photography Awards in England.
I have written four wine books, with subjects ranging from the wines of Piedmont, and Campania, to Champagne.
