Originally from Texas, Jeffrey Porter’s passion for wine started while at the University of Texas at Austin. He began his career at Central Market in Austin.

His life as a sommelier began in Napa Valley. Jeff worked at Tra Vigne Ristorante in St. Helena, California. During this time, he passed the Advanced Master Sommelier test.

In 2009, Jeff joined Osteria Mozza, in Los Angeles. At Mozza, he was under the auspice of James Beard Award winning chef, Nancy Silverton. In 2011, he moved to New York City to become the wine director of the Wine Spectator Grand award winning, restaurant Del Posto. During his time at Del Posto, it received a Michelin star and four stars from the New York Times. Shortly afterwards, Jeffrey became the Beverage Operations Director, overseeing the total beverage programs for the Bastianich Hospitality Group

Today, Jeff and his partner Shelley Lindgrin have a négociant wine business focusing on native Italian grapes. Jeff is considered one of the preeminent experts of fine and rare Italian wine. Once a year he travels to key wine regions throughout all of Italy. He is a passionate advocate and practitioner of Barbecue, in all of its guises and glories.
