Description
South Africa has more Chenin Blanc planted than the rest of the world combined, grown in a wide variety of settings - the granite slopes of Stellenbosch, the shale soils of Swartland, and the coastal vineyards of Bot River. It comes in a wide range of expressions, from sparkling Methode Cap Classiques to sweet dessert wines. There are also more Old Vine Chenin Blanc vineyards in the country than any other variety, producing some of the country’s most highly-regarded and deeply expressive wines. Wines of South Africa Marketing Manager Jim Clarke will lead the seminar through a selection of top South African Chenin Blancs. The seminar will explore the grape’s history in the country, discussion of the different terroirs where Chenin Blanc grows, and reveal what’s so exciting about South African Chenin Blanc today.
