Tommy Miers is an experienced brand builder and marketer within the CPG and premium beverage industries. With over ten years of building, growing, and revitalizing brands, Tommy has a track record of successfully and strategically positioning brands to win in the CPG/beverage landscape. And as a passionate home winemaker, he is a believer in the power and future of high-quality craft beverages.
Starting out in Southern California, Tommy began his marketing career in the advertising industry as a Strategist – leading projects for household name brands like Hyundai, Qualcomm, Eddie Bauer and more. Always yearning for the ability to impact the DNA of the product rather than just the marketing, Tommy transitioned his career into Branding, leading Strategy for a boutique firm in San Diego that specialized in consumer electronics and craft beer. During this time Tommy lead projects for Intel, Shure Microphones and endless craft breweries – ranging from Coronado and Ballast Point Brewing locally to Deep Ellum in Texas to BrewDog abroad.
From there, Tommy moved his career ‘in-house’, taking a job as a Brand Manager for a luxury wine group in Napa, specifically leading the Flowers Vineyards and Winery, Leviathan, and Benton-Lane brands. During his time working in the wine industry, he was able to position Flowers Vineyards and Winery as the leading premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the US, while also co-leading the launch of a state-of-the-art tasting room in Healdsburg, CA. After a few years working in fine wine, it was back to beer. Tommy took a job managing the Anchor Brewing Company brand under Sapporo USA, and then moved over to his dream brand, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
In his first few years at Sierra Nevada he managed the iconic Pale Ale brand, Torpedo’s dramatic rebrand, relaunch, and return to growth, as well as the launch of Sierra Nevada’s first-ever Non-Alcoholic product line Trail Pass IPA and Golden. Currently at Sierra Nevada, Tommy leads a team of Brand Managers and directly oversees the Sierra Nevada master brand. For over a decade, Tommy has seen the evolution of CPG brand marketing and is endlessly curious about what comes next. His passion may be in building
and launching brands, but he knows that’s only successful when media strategy and planning, trade activation, and creative execution are aligned and executed flawlessly.
