Mark Colburn has 30 years of marketing, special event, sales and distribution experience in the beverage alcohol industry. He currently consults for beverage clients, is the creator and host of the pod cast, “The Shinerunner Show” http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com/shinerunner-ep18-dyno-ing-the-marketing-mix/, the author of “Craft Beer Marketing & Distribution – Brace for SKUmeggedon” https://www.amazon.com/CRAFT-BEER-MARKETING-DISTRIBUTION-SKUMEGGEDON-ebook/dp/B015JXD9SW and has been published by the American Marketing Association for his article on experiential events.
He also has extensive experience presenting to National and regional chains (Costco, Safeway, Kroeger, Total Wine), ran a marketing team consisting of six brand managers, a sales analyst, and a graphics design team, has negotiated, executed and overseen over 600 special events (including 10 years at the Outside Lands Festival), was responsible for one of the US’s largest wholesaler sales team’s monthly sales plans where he designed highly creative strategies for small to medium brands in their introduction and growth stages of the product life cycle (On and Off Premise).
Mark has a Master’s degree in marketing beginning his career with Grey Advertising as a Marketing Research Analyst. He later became a Brand Manager for a regional super-premium yogurt company competing with Ben & Jerry’s and Haagen Dazs. In this brand position Mark gained valuable international experience which led to the contractual appointment by the British Trade & Investment Office to the position of Vice Consul Commercial (San Francisco). Mark then competed with the national headquarters team in New York and earned the high profile position of Lead Post on the US Food and Beverage sector.

Mark also blends his lifelong hobby with “work” by employing his two Shelby Mustangs as “brand stand assets” for clients in regional craft beer or art & wine festivals. The cars garner substantial traffic and interest (including media) for the sponsoring brand which increases consumer awareness and trial.
