The Consorzio Vini di Orvieto, an association born with the aim of protecting the quality and image of Orvieto wine, was established in 1958 as the Consortium of Typical Wine of Orvieto, and became the Consortium for the Protection of Orvieto Wine in 1971, the year of recognition of the Orvieto Denomination of Controlled Origin.
