Maeve Pesquera is a wine industry executive, educator and innovator with more than 30 years of experience in prestige hospitality, strategic marketing, culture creation and business development. As DAOU’s Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, Maeve has helped steer the global growth and recognition for America’s fastest growing luxury wine brand.

In addition to her role at DAOU, Maeve holds board and leadership roles in numerous industry organizations, and she is a Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers), Certified Specialist of Wine & Spirits (Society of Wine Educators) and a Certified Level 3 WSET.

Maeve’s visionary ethos has made her an in-demand mentor and speaker at wine industry forums nationwide. She has been a featured speaker at the Oregon Wine Symposium, WineSpeak Paso Robles, Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium, University of Houston Hilton School of Hotel and Restaurant Management and others.

Maeve is frequently asked to speak on several topics of expertise, including executive leadership and business operations; company culture creation; beverage and hospitality programs; marketing and public relations; consumer-centric brand building; the Paso Robles AVA and mentoring the next generation of women leaders in the wine and spirits field.

Prior to joining DAOU, Maeve was the national director of wine, beverage and culinary innovation at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. In 2013, she earned the “Breakthrough Innovator” Award from Hospitality Technology Magazine for her role in developing Fleming’s WiNEPAD, a groundbreaking digital wine experience for restaurant patrons.

At DAOU, Maeve has pioneered the winery’s hospitality-first mentality while developing best-in-class trade experience programs. She serves as a public spokesperson for DAOU to trade partners, industry groups and editorial media, and she frequently travels to DAOU markets nationwide to facilitate new programs and partnerships.

Maeve continues to act as an integral force in numerous industry organizations and associations. She currently serves as a District Director for the California Wine Institute; Board of Directors Vice President for the Paso Robles CAB Collective; Advisory Board Member for Dream Big Darling; Mentor and Panelist at Women of the Vine; and Advisory Board Member for Cal Poly’s Experience Industry Management.

Maeve has been featured in Bloomberg, Forbes, SOMM Journal, E! News, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and others. Her work has earned numerous awards, including the Georges and Daniel Daou Award of Excellence; VIBE Vista Best Wine Program Award; Wine Spectator Award of Excellence; and Warren LeRuth Commitment to Quality Award.

Maeve lives in Paso Robles with her husband Luis, a veteran chef. They reside on their family homestead, Milagro Ranch, where they grow wine grapes, olives and vegetables while raising chickens, sheep and five strong young men whom they hope will have the “soul of a lion.”
