Name
A Comparison of Wines from Basalt Terroir
Date & Time
Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM
Geoff Labitzke
Description

Wine has been produced in the vicinity of volcanoes for thousands of years. Only recently have wine writers reported on Volcanic Wines as many regions have become increasingly popular. The most extreme volcanic influence comes from basalt which is the finest grained of all volcanic stones. Typically, the erosion of basalt is very slow but the tension it creates is very distinctive. This tasting will explore old world and new world examples of both white and red wines.
