With original vines arriving in the mid-1800s, Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Australia’s most historic and significant varieties. Developing a distinct identity took time and it is now firmly established in many classic regions. This seminar will explore the impact of terroir and stylistic differences of the most notable Cabernet Sauvignon regions in Australia. The very best wines from Coonawarra, Margaret River, Yarra Valley and McLaren Vale will clearly and unequivocally demonstrate why they belong in the discussion and on the table with the great wines of Bordeaux and Napa Valley. Wine Australia’s Mark Davidson will moderate a panel of winemakers (TBD) including Chris Carpenter from Jackson Family Wines. Chris travels to Australia yearly to make the Hickinbotham Clarendon wines in McLaren Vale and brings a unique take on making Cabernet Sauvignon in both hemispheres.
