Name
Exploring Ancient Varieties From The Origins Of Wine
Date & Time
Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM
Lisa Granik
Description

The newest genetic ampelographical research demonstrates that the origins of the domesticated vine occurred 11,000 years ago, in two places, more or less simultaneously. The vines of the Levant are the ancestors of the familiar European varieties. But due to the inaccessibility of the vineyards of the Caucasus, vines from Georgia and Armenia adapted to their specific terroirs and are completely distinct. What are these varieties like, and how can we describe them?
