We are friends from California & Argentina who first met in graduate school at “The Farm” in 1987. Back then, Santiago Achaval* made his first wine tasting pilgrimage to Napa with Jim and Azmina Madsen.
Thereafter, the Achavals returned to Argentina, and the Madsens to San Diego. Our friendship flourished and we managed trips back and forth and our families grew – seven kids between us......
3 decades later, with Jim and Az empty nesters, the brainchild was born while in Paso Robles - a call to Argentina, screams of absolute joy and adventure about making the best possible wine here in Paso Robles’ Adelaida District. Since the inaugural 2009 vintage, wine reviewers have rated The Farm Winery wines 92+ more than 200 times.
Working together in the vineyard and winery with family and friends, the long harvest hours, the camaraderie, the shared work, the laughter, the work picnics in the truck, the wetness of the winery, the heat of the vineyards....... we feel blessed!
