Davide Rosso was born in 1973 in Piedmont, in the village of Bra (Cn). He was raised in Serralunga, in a winegrowing family. He spent all his childhood surrounded by vineyards, helping his father Giovanni and his mother Ester to take care of their land and the viticulture. His great passion for wines, inherited by his family, brought him to pursue a degree at the world known Istituto Enologico di Alba, one of the most important italian schools of wine. Davide’s personality has always been driven by the curiosity of discovering new terroirs and he continually seeks to deepen his knowledge about the wine world. After his graduation he decided to live abroad and focus his learning experience on France; he studied winemaking in Burgundy, while in Bordeaux he expanded his expertise on the commercial side of the business. During his life in France he was selected to be part of the Jury de Bordeaux, where he started to meet some of the most important oenologists and sommeliers.
Back in in Piemonte he continued his experience working closely with Barolo personalities such as Luigi Oddero and with the winemakers of Cantina di Clavesana and Fontana Fredda.
Meanwhile, he started his own wine project, vinifying grapes from his family property in Baudana – Serralunga. Davide’s dream of continuing his family legacy in wine was becoming true. In 2001 he was ready to take control of the entire operations of Giovanni Rosso’s winery. In 2011 he designed the new winery, inspired by one of his hand drawings of a Burgundian chateau.
Davide started developing his brand all over the world, focusing on high-quality Nebbiolo grapes, making sure that his wines “reflect and express the essence of their terroir.”
Today Giovanni Rosso is a well-established brand, worldwide known for its Barolos and especially for its single vineyards, CERRETTA, SERRA and the iconic VIGNA RIONDA, the grand Cru of Serralunga – considered by many journalists and commentators to be the 'Romanée-Conti of Barolo.
It is now exclusively imported in US by VIAS Import Ltd.
