Roberto grew up in Italy, in Abruzzo, a very small region in Center Italy. His hometown, Pescara, is overlooking the amazing Thyrrenian Sea, where he enjoyed summer and winter days. Over the years he was also spending a lot of time in the countryside, where his grandparents owned a farm. He always enjoyed helping them, especially in September, during the harvest, when he enjoyed handpicking all the Trebbiano grapes used for the production of their own wine.
During university he moved to Milan, where he graduated in Economics at the university Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Afterwards he had the unique chance to visit Castiglion del Bosco with his wife Nathalie. On that occasion they decided to leave the city and to move to the gentle and rolling hills of Montalcino, living in the countryside again, but this time in Tuscany!
Roberto has always had a great interest in the different wines and appellation of Italy and all the different wine making techniques, and Montalcino it’s all about wine! In particular it’s about Sangiovese grape variety. He loved the idea to be fully immersed in this new world, learning as much as possible.
His carrier in Castiglion del Bosco started with an internship as a Wine Expert, taking care of the wine tours and tastings. It was back in 2010 when he started to grow within the company, covering different positions.
Today, he is the Senior Sales Manager at Castiglion del Bosco, managing the export for all of the different labels produced. He always likes to say that the territory he covers is “Planet Earth”... at least until Mars doesn’t start to be colonized.
He is very proud to represent Castiglion del Bosco around the world and is very grateful to have the opportunity to work with an illuminated owner such as Massimo Ferragamo, whose primary goal is to make Castiglion del Bosco one of the elite produces of Montalcino, as well as with Castiglion del Bosco CEO, Simone Pallesi. Roberto can speak French and he is trying to learn Swedish, his wife’s mother tongue.
