Phineas Deford is the third generation of the Deford family to work at Boordy Vineyards, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary. As vice president, Phin oversees all aspects of vineyard and winery operations and, together with his parents, is responsible for managing daily winery activity and long-term strategic planning. He is a former president of the Maryland Wineries Association and currently serves on the Government Affairs Committee. Phin serves on boards of the Long Green Land Trust and the Baltimore County Land Trust Coalition, which are dedicated to the preservation of farmland and open space in Baltimore County. He also serves on the Baltimore County Agricultural Advisory Board as the representative for viticulture. Phin holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Vermont, an MBA from the University of Baltimore, and a Certificate in Enology from Washington State University. He lives on Long Green Farm, which is also home to Boordy Vineyards, with his wife and daughter.
