Giovanni Nencini is Managing Director of LUX Wines, an importer and marketer of luxury wines from prestigious wineries around the world including Allegrini, Pieropan, Renato Ratti, Poggio al Tesoro, Jermann and Argiano. In this role, Giovanni oversees an elite team of experienced wine veterans, many of whom have lived, worked and traveled in the world’s most renowned wine-producing regions. A native Italian, Giovanni has a profound understanding of the fine wine business and more than 25 years of high level experience in sales, marketing and exporting.

Giovanni previously was Vice President and General Manager for Cantine Leonardo da Vinci and Cantina di Montalcino. In this role, Giovanni was involved in every aspect of marketing and sales, in both domestic and international markets. A key senior member of the company’s management team, Giovanni applied his global perspective on the wine business to drive the success of Cantine Leonardo da Vinci.

Early in his career, Giovanni studied law at the University of Florence before turning to the wine business. He later studied French wine at the École du Vin in Bordeaux, France, and completed coursework on Italian wines in the U.S. through an exchange program with the University of California, Berkeley.

Following his education, Giovanni spent 10 years in marketing and sales in the U.S. and worked as Marketing and Sales Director in Italy for Alois Lageder Winery, before joining Da Vinci and later LUX Wines.

Throughout his remarkable career, Giovanni continues to focus on sharing the stories, connections and the sense of place of wine.
